Importance of submitting your live performance set list to your PRO.
As a songwriter, you have an opportunity to collect royalty money when your song is performed in a live music venue, irrespective of how big or small it is.
Whether you perform the song yourself, your cowriter performs it, or someone else covers your song, you are eligible to collect public performance money as a songwriter and/or music publisher.
Submitting your set lists and other performance information allows your P.R.O. to track and pay you the royalties you earn from each live performance.
Most PROs will have a portal within your songwriter account where you are able to input live performance information.
The process varies depending on your P.R.O., but in each case, you will fill out a form with basic information regarding your performance including set list, date & time, and location. Every song that you perform should be included in your set list.
An important thing to consider when you're collecting all your royalties for live public performance is, make sure you have done your paper work correctly.
